University of Maryland School of Pharmacy Pharmapreneurship® Summit
-

The Summit will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy.

The University of Maryland School of Pharmacy is the 4th oldest pharmacy school in the nation. Since our inception, our graduates have been entrepreneurs, and we count the founders of companies including Merck, Noxzema, Correct Rx Pharmacy Service, NutraMax, King Pharmaceuticals, OneWorld Health, Medicines 360, and Tabula Rasa Healthcare among our more than 7,000 alumni. In addition to our flagship Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, we offer a myriad of MS and PhD programs in the health sciences, including a MS in Medical Cannabis Science and Therapeutics and a PhD in Palliative Care, both the first of their kind in the country. We also train students in pharmacometrics, pharmaceutical sciences, health outcomes and health equities, and regulatory science.

Our students, alumni, faculty, and our staff are entrepreneurs. They are innovative, creative, and daring. To reflect this entrepreneurial mindset, we launched in 2017 and subsequently trademarked an initiative that we call Pharmapreneurship®.  Since its launch, we have organized multiple events and activities to highlight and grow pharmapreneurship. These include a high-stakes student led Pharmapreneur’s Market Competition in which students vie for up to $100,000 in seed money to fund a new business venture, the creation of a Center for Women in Pharmapreneurship, and the development of pharmapreneurship focused courses and programming for our students.

The Pharmapreneurship® Summit brings these and other activities into a single day. The summit will bring thought leaders to campus to engage with our community, to propose bold and innovative ideas to address challenges and opportunities for the pharmacy world, and to celebrate our successes.

The symposium is free to attend, but registration is requested.
