A local startup that wants to become the Airbnb for boat owners expects its revenue to almost double this year — and its founders think focusing more on their home state could play a big part in reaching that goal.

Dockshare, a company that connects boaters with owners of private docks for rent, is looking to raise up to $1.25 million to continue its growth. Last year was a banner year for the startup co-founded by Towson University alumna Gina Young and her husband Nate, who live in the area. Dockshare took in $600,000 in revenue in 2024, about 10 times more than in 2023. A majority of the company’s business is in Florida, but Dockshare is now starting to focus on the mid-Atlantic, which Nate Young believes can push revenue past $1 million.
