Heroes in Health Care is the Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center's signature event that honors our heroes - staff and our community's philanthropic heroes. We're excited to bring together corporate supporters, community members, county executives, and our hospital staff for an evening of fun and celebration on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
We are thrilled to announce Ron and Cyndi Gula as the 2025 Heroes in Philanthropy. Their extraordinary contributions have significantly enhanced the medical center's ability to provide high-quality care and embrace innovative healthcare technologies.
The Gulas' philanthropic journey began in 2019 with a generous gift towards a campus construction project, benefiting tens of thousands of Emergency Department patients in Howard County. Since then, their unwavering commitment to enhancing healthcare, particularly through Virtual Nursing, has remained steadfast.
Ron and Cyndi truly embody the spirit of philanthropy. In 2023, Ron was inducted into the Cybersecurity Hall of Fame and received the Lifetime Achievement Award from SANS. Both Ron and Cyndi were also honored with the Gold Medal Order of Thor from the Military Cyber Professionals.
Cyndi is equally dedicated to her community, serving on several boards, including Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center, the National Cryptologic Foundation, and the Howard County Conservancy. She previously served on the Board of the Howard County Economic Development Authority and was a Commissioner for the Howard County Equal Business Opportunity Commission. In 2023, Cyndi was recognized as a NEW Power Woman of DC Tech by DCA Live and a Woman of Influence by I95 magazine.
The Gulas will be formally honored at the Heroes in Health Care event on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab. Join us in celebrating their remarkable contributions and unwavering dedication to improving healthcare.
We're also excited to have fellow Howard County resident, newscaster Nicky Zizaza, joining us from WJZ CBS News Baltimore to emcee the event.
