For almost twenty years, the Maryland Technology Development Corporation, otherwise known as TEDCO, has been the state’s s lead source for business assistance and seed funding for the development of startup companies.

The Daily Record has announced its 2017 Innovators of the Year, 26 individuals and companies who have created new products, services or programs that have had a positive effect on business, industry or the community.

A funding provider of new tech firms and a unit of one of the nation’s largest African American banks is offering black entrepreneurs up to $40,000 each to launch a tech company in Maryland.

The Maryland Technology Development Corp. has tapped as its new chief executive an investor with a track record of leading Baltimore-area startup companies.

After 14 months and two separate searches, the hunt for a new CEO of Maryland Technology Development Corp. has ended and George Davis is ready to take the helm.

George Davis, who ran Gemstone Biotherapeutics, brings experience running and investing in early stage startups. TEDCO’s board chairman called him an “entrepreneur’s entrepreneur.”

TEDCO’s ICE awards returned to Columbus Center in Inner Harbor on Thursday night. The Maryland agency, which provides resources for startups and other businesses, awards portfolio companies for Innovation, Corporate Excellence and Entrepreneurship.
